Our mission is straightforward:
Simple. Dry. Damn Good.
Hard cider.
Dry Humor Cider Co.
Dry Humor Cider Co. was born on a dark and stormy night in the late summer of 2018…or it might have been a sunny day in January. The day really isn’t all that important. In any case, it was a while ago.
Several months before this dark and stormy night Emma Trude’s favorite dry English cider sweetened its recipe and lost the simple, dry flavor she loved. Heartbroken at the loss of her beloved beverage she fell into a deep and lingering depression. Okay, it was more of a mild irritation. All the same, it was what inspired her and her husband, Ryan, to procure an old home brew kit from a friend and start making the cider they wanted to drink. And because Ryan Trude never does anything in half measures, he decided to turn this little experiment into a business as well.
Several batches later they brought their latest creation over to a New Year’s party at the home of long-time friend and newly diagnosed celiac, Dylan Preble. As a former connoisseur of the $3 domestic tallboy beer world, Dylan was struggling to find a gluten-free alternative that wasn’t too sweet, tart, acidic, or expensive. That night, after one taste of the Trudes’ latest concoction, he agreed they were on to something.
Dylan joined Dry Humor Cider Co. and the team got to work. After a couple of years, a lot of prototyping, and one pandemic the recipe had been dubbed ‘Dry Humor’. The goal was set - to bring this simple, dry, damn good cider to market in 2022 and…we made it!
With just a couple days in 2022 to spare, the first cans of Dry Humor started hitting the shelves, coolers, and bar rails in Bellingham, WA. We have been so thankful for the amazing welcome every cider drinker, shopkeeper, brewer, and bartender has given us in Bellingham, as well as around the Pacific Northwest, as we continue to expand our customer base. Thank you to everyone that makes Dry Humor Cider Co. possible!
